Using the Compass

Use the sun!

If you are looking slightly south at the sun, then you are in the northern hemisphere.

If you are looking slightly north, you are in the southern hemisphere.

If you are looking directly East or West, you are either on the equator or near the summer solstice.

Look at the horizon: Mountains, oceans, seas, etc. are helpful for orienting yourself on the map.

Use Your Research Skills: Open a New Tab!

The challenges I and the other teachers create for you are intended to exercise your critical thinking skills and encourage a growth mindset, not foster a reliance on luck and serendipity. Most GeoGuessr challenges offer some clues to generate possible ideas for further exploration.
