"There are no strict guidelines. We have to meld tradition and innovation to insist that genre is a meaningless word for artists."--Kathleen Kennedy, movie producer and LucasFilm president
Picture
"To me, unconventional thinking is approaching a problem and asking, 'Why not? Why can't something be done?' If someone can't give me a good reason why you can't do something, I find a way to do it."
--Eli Broad, American businessman and art philanthropist, author of
The Art of Being Unreasonable

Please select one of the quotes above for a reflection, or compare and contrast them (using Comments, e-mail, or your private journal).

At this point in the year, three levels of response are the goal for this focus exercise--
  • Be Bold--Take a position; agree or disagree;
  • Be Brilliant--Offer supporting details and reasoning;
  • Be Beautiful--Include a personal connection and reveal your own unique voice.
Today's proverbs are in the same thread. Because of this, you should indicate clearly in your response which proverb you are referring to so your classmates will be able to understand and frame their replies to your comment.

I agree with Steve Jobs because people that are crazy enough to change the world...maybe because they are crazy and want to do it very much.

I agree with you completely, Angie. Many people wanted to change the world , and did horrible things to do so.

I think this means that if someone gives you no reasons on why you cant do something then do not listen to them and keep being yourself and keep doing you. I ocmpletely agree with Eli Broad

I agree with you Charlotte. People who change the world are called crazy and are made fun of in school. I believe nothing is to crazy.

I like this quote because if you think you can change the world and you have a crazy idea and if you do it then most of the time you will do it and succeed. But it you don't do it then either someone else does it and gets some $ even though that is not what its about, or that idea would have saved the world but you didn't do it so the world is a worse place. Overall I agree with Steve Jobs.

I agree with Julia because if you have a crazy idea and you think it will come true you should pursue it and believe you can do and eventually you will make a world changing ideas and invention.

I agree Kathleen Kennedy that genre is a word that doesn't mean anything. People who make action movies can make romance movies. A person who reads realistic fiction can read fairy tales.

I agree with Alan Kay because you can create the future by making new things and publishing it and you never know when it could be viewed and actually become famous.

I agree with Steve Jobs because you can't change the future if you don't try to. If your first expiriment doesn't work keep trying until you get it right. I tried to make fizzy lemonade but it didn't work out so i tried and tried until i got it right.
